SOME WAYS OPEN SPACE
Haifa/Israel 2013

The international art project 'Upper Space/Lower Space' took place in a run down neighbourhood in the Haifa harbour district. The closed shops gave me the idea for this work.
The work is about opening and closing. The facade of a shop in the 'Turkish Market' became covered with a plywood construction that has 5 openings each the size of a door. The door panels tilt slightly at different angles to the inside, outside, upside, downside, left side and right side. One can look inside but not open the doors. Inside the back wall is painted in ultraviolett colour.
I see this work as a rhythmical relievo.
