MOUNTAIN

Sofia/Bulgaria 2013

Hanging installation in the Sofia Arsenal Museum of contemporary art (SAMCA) in the frame of the Watertower Art Festival "Temporary Protected Space".
Cardboard, 1,20 m x 1,70 m x 1,20 m

A real mountain is unreachably high, sovereign and sublime. It provokes feelings of longing, conquest and also lack of power.
A small floating mountain by contrast is illogical. The rules of physics and relations don't work.
Somehow dislocated - like a Fata Morgana - the little mountain is connecting to ist real surrounding and is adding a somehow magic dimension to it.
The mountain object is built from cardboard stencils that are folded and patched together.
